Night Nuances
Night Nuances is a collection of photographs exploring the nuances of sleepless nights. Staying up late has been a habit of mine for years on end due to the solace I find when my house is quietest. It is not a habit I am necessarily proud of—I would even go as far as to call it an addiction of sorts—but the routine of staying up has become a constant in my life that provides both comfort and regret. I want to showcase movement in a haze, whether that be tossing and turning in my room or watching a bus pass by. With each photo there is a subject in motion meant to both encourage the eye to wander and the viewer to question. The absence of clarity is a nod to the fogginess of staying up while adding a layer of subjectivity, allowing for a wider range of interpretation and connection from the audience. It is my hope that my photos read like a dream forgotten but missed; a dream only remembered by how it felt. Redirecting my inner monologue to dreamlike visuals not only introduced a sense of intuitiveness in a project so open but also urged me to view myself in a different light and get out of my own head.
